The River City Basketball Showcase held April 8-9 featured several local athletes.

Local basketball players from around the state were presented with rings and jerseys to commemorate their hard work and dedication in school and sports. The game on Saturday featured six local area players. Mya Washington of Brookhaven High School and Jordan Shelby of Loyd Star High School played on the girls’ winning team.

Four Brookhaven seniors were selected for the boys’ game: Shon Blackwell II, Lazorian McNulty, Garrick Smith and Darrian Wilson.

Blackwell was selected as the game’s Most Valuable Player. McNulty joined Blackwell on the winning team.

The event also featured a three-point contest and slam dunk contest. Jordan Shelby won the three-point shootout for the girls.
