The Enterprise Lady Jackets finished off the Clarkdale Lady Bulldogs Saturday with an 11-1 victory in Game Two at Jerry Coon Field.

In Friday’s contest, the Lady Jackets defeated the Lady Bulldogs 7-4.

Enterprise (16-9) will resume action Tuesday when they host the Taylorsville Lady Tartars in the second round of the Class 2A state softball playoffs. A second and third game, if needed, will be at Taylorsville Thursday. Game times have not been set.

Lady Jackets 11, Lady Bulldogs 1

Abby Meredith led off the bottom of the first inning with a walk. Jana Nations followed with a deep ball to center field for a double, scoring Meredith for the first run of the inning. Haley Nations would follow with a bunt to score Jana Nations. Kayln Chemin hit a RBI single to give Enterprise an early 3-0 lead.

In the second, Clarkdale’s Maggie Meadows hit a deep fly ball to left field, scoring their only run of the game. The Lady Bulldogs threatened to score more, but Enterprise pitcher Carlee Nations was able to get out of the inning on a ground out.

Leading 5-1 in the fifth, Enterprise capitalized on Clarkdale’s wild pitches to score two more runs. The Lady Jackets continued to take advantage of Clarkdale’s mistakes in the sixth inning to plate four more runs to secure the win at 11-1.

Carlee Nations (3Ks, 5BB) picked up the win for the Lady Jackets. Maggie Meadows (0K, 1BB) suffered the setback for Clarkdale.

“Very proud of the girls. They came out to play today. The girls hit the ball well. Now we will start preparing for the next step,” said Enterprise coach Charissa Burke.

Jana Nations led the Lady Jackets with a double, single and three RBIs. Abby Meredith hit a double and had a RBI. Lauren Gartman hit two singles. Kayln Chemin provided a single and had three RBIs. Brook Foster and Hayle Nations each had a single and RBI. Hitting safely for the Lady Jackets were Carlee Nations and Carly Polk with a single each.

Trailing 4-1, the Lady Jackets outscored the Lady Bulldogs 6-0 in the final five innings to win the first game.

Haley Nations was the winning pitcher for the Lady Jacket with 15 strikeouts and four walks.

Maggie Meadows suffered the loss for the Lady Bulldogs with two strikeouts and two walks.

“Glad to get the win to start the playoffs,” said Burke. “I was very pleased with my girls’ efforts today. Haley Nations pitched a great game. Morgan Smith did a great stepping up at the plate as she provided two big key hits for us.”

Morgan Smith powered the Lady Jackets with two double. Lauren Gartman contributed a double and a single. Haley Nations provided two singles. Hitting safely were Abby Meredith and Brooke Foster.

Aubree McWilliams paced the Lady Bulldogs’ attack with two singles. Ashley McLeod had a single.
