Ole Brook advances to South State

NATCHEZ – The Brookhaven Panthers secured second and the Lady Panthers finished third in the regional track and field event in Natchez Friday afternoon.

The top four finishers in each event will move on to participate in MHSAA South State Track & Field Championship Meet Saturday at Long Beach, starting at 11 a.m.

All field events will begin at 11:30 a.m. The girls 4×800 meter relay will begin at 11:30 a.m. followed by the boys 4×800 meter relay. All other running events will not begin until the conclusion of the field events (around 1:30 p.m.).

The Panthers and Lady Panthers are coached by Darien Dorsey.

In the boys contest, Adrian Lockwood paced the Brookhaven Panthers with a pair of first place finishes in the 1600 meter and 3200 meter runs.

Montero Barton placed second in the Long Jump with a leap of 20 feet, eight inches. He also placed second in the Triple Jump with a leap of 45 feet, five inches. Norman Woodard captured second in the Pole Vault clearing eight feet.

In the boys relay races, Brookhaven finished first in the 4×100 and the 4×800 meter races. The Panthers secured second in the 4×200 meter relay.

In the girls contest,  the Lady Panthers captured three second place finishes – in the 4×100, 4×200 and 4×800 meter races.

In the girls individual events, Miyah Miller won the 1600 meter run. Jerricka Williams placed second in the 100 meter dash. Arnancy Arnold took home second in the 400 meter dash. Mya Washington secured second in the girls discus event with a toss of 85 feet, nine inches.
