Lady Jaguars thump Pass Christian

SUMMIT – The North Pike Lady Jaguars clobbered the Pass Christian Lady Pirates 13-4 Tuesday night in the second round of the Class 4A state fastpitch softball playoffs.

they travel to Pass Christian to battle the Lady Pirates in the second and, if needed, third game of the series starting at 5:30 p.m.

The Lady Jaguars dominated the first three innings, outscoring the Lady Pirates to secure an early 11-3 lead.

In the fourth inning, Pass Christian scored one run to cut into North Pike’s lead at 11-4, but the Lady Jaguars would answer back in the bottom of the fifth inning, plating two more runs to extend their lead to 13-4 and held on for the victory.

Madison Bigner was the winning pitcher for North Pike with five strikeouts and four walks.

Amber Funderburk pitched the loss for Pass Christian with three strikeouts and six walks.

Madison Bigner powered the Lady Jaguars’ offense explosion with two homeruns. Sarah Brock contributed a triple, a double and a single. Madison Bates and Jami Spears provided two singles each. Janay Maxwell, Jenna Brock and Janiah Talbert hit safely.

Bri Smith was the top leader at the plate for the Lady Pirates with a double and a single. Avion Swanier and Morgan Funderburk had two singles each. Brooke Roach hit a single.
