Local players prepare for Individual State Tournament

Athletes from Brookhaven, Enterprise, Franklin County, Lawrence County, Loyd Star, Wesson and West Lincoln will compete Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at the Oxford Tennis Center or at the Bridges Tennis Center in Jackson in the Individual State Tournament.
Each player has their eyes set on winning state championship gold for their school.
Class 1A, 2A, 3A and 4A will play at the Oxford Tennis Center. Class 5A and 6A will play at the Bridges Tennis Center. Matches begin at 9 a.m. at both tennis centers.
Here are the players that will be fighting for gold in the three-day individual tournament.
In the Class 2A field: Enterprise’s Wyatt Coleman and Madison Rials, mixed doubles. Mylaine McCaffery, girls’ singles. Hanako Mori and Courtney Greer, girls’ doubles.
West Lincoln’s Sebastian Harrell, boys’ singles; Carlie Smith, girls’ singles; Matthew Allred and Johnathan Mathis, boys’ double; Katy Clark, Kara Clark, Laura Leigh Dunaway and Madison Franklin, girls’ double, Liam Rutland and Abby Grace Stogner, mixed doubles.
Loyd Star’s Gavin Thomas, boys’ singles; Ashlyn Locke, girls’ singles; Conner Crosby and Blayne Brister, boys’ doubles; Bryson Brister and Madisyn Brister, mixed doubles.
In Class 3A events: Franklin County’s Mia Durrell, girls’ singles; Brant Mullins, boys’ singles; Ariyanna Mason and Tony Gibbs, mixed doubles.
Wesson’s Erich Fischer, boys’ singles, Kimberly San, girls’ singles; Devin Wallace, Skyler Rasberry, Ray Drane and Reid Crow, boys’ doubles; Mary Beth Munn, Amber Brinson, Morgan Wesley and Shaylin Green, girls’ doubles; Logan Channell and Maya Granger, mixed doubles.
In the Class 4A matches: Lawrence County’s Megan White and John Rutland, mixed doubles.
In the Class 5A category, Brookhaven’s Daniel Panzica, boys’ singles; Sarah Grace Evans, girls’ singles; Daniel Clark, Will Moak, Cooper Patterson and Michael Haynes Hutson, boys’ doubles; Lea Allen and Anne Walker, girls’ doubles; Maggie Massengill and Dalton Fortado, mixed doubles.
