A single car accident on I-55 left one dead and one injured Friday afternoon.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to an accident at approximately 4 p.m. Friday on I-55 S. at mile marker 45.

A 2016 Dodge truck driven by Ronald Dillon of Meadville ran off the road and hit a tree on I-55 S. at mile marker 45, Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop M Spokesman Cpl. Brandon Fortenberry said.

Dillon was pronounced dead on the scene at 4:30 p.m., Lincoln County Coroner Clay McMorris said.

The passenger, Judy Dillon, was transported to the Baptist Medical Center in Jackson with non-life threatening injuries, Fortenberry said.
