Local players bag All-State honors

Athletes from Loyd Star, Enterprise, West Lincoln, Wesson and Lawrence County were selected to the Mississippi Association of Coaches All-State team.

Loyd Star had five players selected in Class 2A. Cade Hodges received the highest honor as he was chosen as the Player of the Year.

Hodges has a .366 batting average and on the mound he has posted 0.94 ERA.

Levi Redd (.294), Konner Allen (.387) and Tucker Watts (.452) were selected on the Class 2A All-State first team.

Parker Flowers (.393) and James Beard (.376) were recognized on the second team.

West Lincoln had three players on the Class 2A team. Kylar Fielder (.485) was recognized on the first team. Lofton Sills (.444) and Daniel Spears (.348) were selected on the second team.

Two players from Enterprise were selected as Austin Fugler represented the first team and Hunter Richardson was on the second team. Fugler posted a 1.50 ERA and Richardson batted a .490 on the season.

In class 3A, Jeremy Smith, of Wesson, was chosen on the MHSAA All-State second team. Smith batted a .436 and had 14 doubles on the season.

In class 4A, Lawrence County had two players – Josh Stephens and T-Tex Cole – on the first team selection. Stephens batted a .319 and posted a 1.50 ERA. Cole finished with a .563 batting average and 13 homeruns.
