Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bryan Thompson, of Utica, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Abby Jo Thompson, of Utica, to Myles Ray Melancon, of Brookhaven.

He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kyle Hux and the late Anthony Melancon, all of Brookhaven.

She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Whitfield, of Picayune, Mr. Jerry Thompson, of Jackson, the late Bertie Thompson and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Mixon, of Utica.

He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Rounsaville, of Brookhaven, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ricks, of Brookhaven, and the late Ray Joe Melancon, of Brookhaven.

The bride-elect is a graduate of Central Hinds Academy and Mississippi College where she received a Bachelor of Science in nursing and graduated magna cum laude. She is currently employed with Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas, as a registered nurse.

The prospective groom is a graduate of Brookhaven Academy and Mississippi College where he received a Bachelor of Science in business and graduated summa cum laude. He is currently attending the University of Arkansas where he is pursuing a master’s degree in English. He is a graduate assistant at the University of Arkansas.

The couple will exchange vows at 6 p.m., Saturday, June 18, 2016, at First Baptist Church in Raymond. A reception will follow at The Gin in Flora.

All friends and relatives are invited to attend the wedding and the reception. No local invitations will be sent.
