Bond has been set at $100,000 for a Forest man charged with manslaughter in the death of a Bogue Chitto man Monday night.
Russell E. Creason, 35, of 1727 George Road, represented by his council, surrendered himself into McComb police custody without incident Wednesday, said detective Sid Boyte.
Creason was taken to Pike County Detention Center. He was arraigned Wednesday and bond was reduced from the original $250,000 set by Judge Brandon Frazier, Boyte said.
Police and emergency personnel responded around 10:45 p.m. Monday to the Upper Deck Sports Bar on South Railroad Boulevard in McComb in reference to an unresponsive person who had been involved in a physical altercation
Shaun T. Wallace, 25, of Bogue Chitto, was pronounced dead by Pike County Coroner Percy Pittman. Witnesses told police an argument led to a fight and employees and patrons tried to separate the parties involved.
During the fight, Wallace was struck by a male, who fled the scene, Boyte said.
Wallace’s body was taken to the state crime lab for an autopsy. Boyte would not say how Wallace was killed, but denied he had been beaten. “He was not beaten. He was not stabbed. He was not shot,” he said Tuesday. “It was a physical altercation.”
