Qualifying are:

District 1 — James V. Tillman, Democrat

District 2 — Tiffany Lynne Furr, Republican

District 3 — Ernie L. Clark and Stanton L. Long, both Republican

District 4 — John A. Giust and Denise White, both Republican

District 5 — Marsha Britt Warren, Republican

To qualify, candidates must be a registered voter in their district. They must also complete a candidate petition form, which is available online at lincolncircuitcourt.com or at the Circuit Clerk’s office. Candidates need signatures from 50 qualified voters from that district, Bairfield said.

After Bairfield certifies the signatures, candidates must file their completed paperwork in the Chancery Clerk’s office to be listed on the November ballot.

Election commissioners receive a per diem of $84 for every day or period of no less than five hours accumulated over two or more days to prepare for an election or revising registration and poll books, Bairfield said.

However, commissioners receive a per diem of $150 per day for performing their duties on the actual day of any general or special election.

Bairfield said one of the most important duties of an election commissioner is to maintain accurate voter rolls and poll books.

Election commissioners are tasked with removing the names of all people listed erroneously on the books, or who have died, moved or become disqualified as electors for any cause.
