James Earl ‘Bird’ Rawls

Funeral services for James Earl “Bird” Rawls are Saturday, June 25, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Mighty God MB Church with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery. Williams Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Friday, June 24, 2016, from 1 until 6 p.m. at Williams Mortuary.
Mr. Rawls, 56, died Thursday, June 16, 2016, at his residence. He was born Sept. 8, 1959, in Lawrence County to Willie Davis and Earline Harris Rawls.
He attended Brookhaven public schools and took up a trade at Job Corp as an auto mechanic. He worked at Brookhaven High School, Lincoln Lumber Yard and his small engine repair service.
Preceding him in death were his parents; grandparents, Jack and Myrtis Harris; and sister, Dessie Harris.
Survivors are his wife, Reba Harris Rawls; daughter, Shanka McGee of Brookhaven; son, Ronnie Lyons of Brookhaven; sisters, Elaine (Albert) Reed, Maebell (Willie) Culver and Naomi Rawls, all of Brookhaven, and Mamie (Arthur) Davis of Monticello; brothers, Donald Rawls, Henry (Evelyn) Rawls and Arthur Davis, all of Brookhaven; two grandchildren; godson, Trey Murray; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
