Volunteer firefighters from Bogue Chitto, Hog Chain and Zetus rushed to the scene on Bogue Chitto Road Monday after a hay barn caught fire. Bogue Chitto Assistant Fire Chief Stuart Hall was in charge of coordinating the firefighters on scene.
The call came in at 4:45 p.m.
Bogue Chitto Fire Chief Blake Wallace said hay can spontaneously combust if left in an enclosed area before fully drying, and they usually see a couple of hay fires a year.
