An Alabama woman was killed and three children injured early today in a one-vehicle accident on I-55 in Pike County, authorities said.
Monique West , 28, of Dora, was driving south in a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe near mile marker 3, said Cpl. Brandon Fortenberry with the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
Shortly after 4 a.m., the SUV left the road and hit the ditch in the median, rolling over and ejecting West before coming to rest in the median, he said.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, Fortenberry said.
Three passengers sustained non-life-threatening injuries, he said. They are Parker Houk, 3, Vanessa Jones, 11, and Anthony Houk Jr., 2.
The accident remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
