Lincoln All-Stars advancing in postseason play

In thrilling fashion, the Lincoln Americans overcame a three-run defecit in the sixth inning to defeat Pike 10-9 Friday at the Lincoln Civic Center Baseball Complex. The Americans are playing for the district championship and seeding in the state tournament.

The team defeated Iuka 15-0 in their fist game and beat Kosciuscko 11-4  Saturday.  The 8-year-old team suffered its first loss of the tournament Saturday 18-0 at the hands of Columbia. They will await the winner of the Hattiesburg/Greene County game for a 2 p.m. Sunday contest.  The 8-year-old state tournament features sixteen teams with a double-elimination format.  Six teams remain in the tournament. The top two teams from the tournament will advance to the World Series in Laurel.
