Legacy Hall of Honor recipients to be honored

The successes of graduates of the former Alexander High School will be celebrated as the AHS Legacy Hall of Honor recipients are honored Friday during ceremonies held in conjunction with the AHS reunion.

This will be the fifth class of inductees announced since the AHS Legacy committee created the Hall of Honor in 2006, said organizer Dexter Holloway.

A reception, recognition and induction program, in their honor, will be held Friday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Old National Guard Armory, 689 Hwy. 51 N. The induction program will begin at 11:30 a.m.

The Hall of Honor recognizes and honors Alexander alumni and former students who, through leadership, character and hard work, have made exceptional contributions in their chosen field, and in their communities, he said.

Inductees this year include  Percy B. Bryant Jr., Sylvia A. Buie, Myrtle Louise Crossley, Kermit Dow, Annie Mae Newton Gaston, Irma Pearl Alexander James, Clarence B. Johnson, Sr., Louis Jones Jr., Dr. Trawick Lindsay, Alphonse A. Marks, Dr. Phyllis Qualls-Brooks, Edith Richardson, Theola Bryant Robinson, Mamie Dickey Sanders, Margaret “Ann” Billups Thomas, Carroll Oswa “C. 0.” Tanner, Pertis H. Williams Jr. and Bobbie Jean Baker Wilson-Moore.
