Local theater fans are in for a huge treat Saturday.

Brookhaven Little Theatre will release the names of the four major productions it will produce in the 2016-2017 season, using musical and theatrical clues throughout its annual membership and season reveal party Saturday night at the Haven Theatre.

The party will begin will a cocktail hour at 7:30 p.m. with free admission, where all locals interested in becoming ticket holders will have a chance to mingle, BLT board member Emily Waterloo said.

“The party will have an open house feel,” Waterloo said. “We wanted everyone to have a chance to come in and see the upgrades and changes we have made.”

The cocktail hour will feature free BBQ appetizers, Broadway’s greatest hit songs played by Brookhaven High School junior Caleb McCreary and a cash bar.

“Each drink will be themed after one of our four shows,” Waterloo said. “They will be titled something from the show.”

Clues to what the show could be will also be seen in the decorations, she said.

After mingling, guests will have the opportunity to sit in the BLT auditorium to see the previous year in review and receive more clues to each of the upcoming productions, Waterloo said.

“I have a slideshow filed with pictures to review this past year,” she said. “After that, one by one, we will set up and reveal each show.”

Actors from each of the four productions will sing a song or act out a monologue from the four shows, Waterloo said.

“Attendees will get little bits from each show, and after we will reveal them all,” she said.

All four production titles are well-known Blockbuster hits, Waterloo said.

“One of the plays was adapted from a prize winning novel,” she said. “Our Christmas play is the most known Christmas production, and the two musicals are huge.”

At the end of the reveal, guests will have the opportunity to purchase season BLT tickets at a discounted price.

“The people who come will receive a special season ticket holder price on Saturday only,” Waterloo said. “If someone cannot be there for the reveal, they can come by anytime on Saturday, and I will honor the price. We will be there all day.”

Waterloo said she is extremely excited for the membership party and the upcoming season solely to reveal the BLT auditorium enhancements.

“Our space is a big black cavern,” she said. “We really want to enhance our performances through the magical things that can happen from our planned improvement like a curtain or a grid system hanging from above.”
