Wayne King Trap Shoot slated for Saturday

The annual Wayne King Trap Shoot, which benefits the Wayne King Copiah-Lincoln Community College Scholarship fund, is set to take place Saturday at the Walker Trap Range in McComb.

The fundraiser is held in memory of the late Wayne King, of Brookhaven, who was described as a true outdoorsman and sportsman.

The entry fee for the event is $80 per adult and $50 per junior 15 years of age and under. The family maximum is $200 and lunch is included for all attendees at no extra cost.

The trap shoot competition will consist of one warm-up round of 25 shots, which determines placement for competition rounds  also consisting of 25 shots.

First, second and third place trophies will be awarded in junior, women’s, shooters and championship divisions. Door prizes and T-shirts  will be available to the first 40 participants.

Since 2001, $18,950 has been awarded to Co-Lin students as a result of the fundraiser.

The Wayne King Trap Shoot is also requesting sponsorships for raffle items. Sponsorship of the event includes announcements of the sponsors as well as inclusion of the sponsor’s logo on event signage and T-shirts.

The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. and last until 1 p.m. The Walker Trap Range is  located at 4090 Highway 44 East, six miles east of I-55 exit 17.
