Funeral services for Sharon Marie Culver Wells, of Madison, are Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016, at 3 p.m. at Breeland Funeral Home in Canton.

Visitation is on Sunday from 2 p.m. until time of services.

Mrs. Wells, 73, died Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016. She was born Nov. 12, 1942, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Orville Ollie Culver and Hydee Marie Grenn Culver. Her family later relocated to Bogue Chitto.

She graduated from Brookhaven High School in 1960. After graduation, she attended Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana, where she met her husband, Richard Keith Wells. They married in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Dec. 18, 1966, and later moved to Jackson to start their family.

Mrs. Wells worked for many years at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in the GI lab as a microbiologist under Dr. James Anchord. She went back to college to earn her master’s degree from Mississippi College and subsequently earned her CPA license. She retired from Mississippi Department of Enviornmental Quality in 2005. She worked for H&R Block during tax season for nearly 30 years.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Survivors are her husband of nearly 50 years, Richard Keith Wells, who retired from Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks; daughters, Lisa Wells Johnson (Don), of Flower Mound, Texas, and Amy Wells Easterling (Woody), of Madison; grandchildren, Richard Easterling, of Madison, and Emma Johnson, William Johnson and Bryan Johnson, all of Flower Mound, Texas; and her beloved sister, Charlotte Mary Culver Smith, of Bossier City, Louisiana.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr, Young and staff at Jackson Oncology Associates (Hederman Cancer Center) for the wonderful care of Mrs. Wells during her 10-year battle with breast cancer, and Hospice Ministries, of Ridgeland, for their warm and loving care during Mrs. Wells’ last days of life.

Memorials may be made in honor of Mrs. Wells to Magnolia Speech School, 733 N. Flag Chapel Road, Jackson, MS, 39209.
