Funeral services for Eula W. Pierce, of Wesson, are 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016, at Lakewood Funeral Home in Jackson with burial to follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 10 until time of service at Lakewood Funeral Home.

Mrs. Pierce, 89, died on Sept. 2, 2016, at the home of her daughter, Teresa Beeson. She was born on Nov. 16, 1926 near Caseyville in Lincoln County to Stonewall J. Woolley and Lozier Northern Wooley.

She was a graduate of Loyd Star High School and attended Copiah-Lincoln Community College. She was retired from the state tax commission office in Jackson.

She was a member of Alta Woods United Methodist Church in Jackson for more than 50 years and resided there before moving to Copiah County to be near her daughter. She then became an associate member of Sweetwater United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Women’s Bible study group. She was a member of the Radiant Chapter #120 Eastern Star for more than 60 years and was an active for many years with the women’s chapter of Wahabi Shriners Temple in Jackson.

Pierce loved feeding the birds, and knew the names of every kind. She loved planting flowers, cooking and carrying food to shut-ins. She found great joy in spending time with her family and all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her such joy.

Preceding her in death were her husband of 51 years, James F. Pierce; parents; brothers, Prentiss, Edgar, Purvis, Clayton and Hurbert Wooley; sisters, Luna Herring, Annie Wooley and Wessie Smith.

Survivors are her daughters, Teresa P. Beeson, of Wesson, Amelia P. Mask, of Guntown, and Shelia Bowden (John), of Madison; six grandchildren, Tiffany Moore (Tim), Christina Watts (Blake), Kim Arnold (Marc), Bram Mask (Shanna), Brodie Mask and Megan Lann (Michael);11 great-grandchildren; many loving nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Faye Woolley and Maxine Walding; and special friends.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Hardy Wilson Hospital in Hazlehurst for the care she received, Dr. Preston McDonnell and the wonderful care provided by Hospice Ministries Inc. of Brookhaven.
