Funeral services for Melvin Walters, of Bogue Chitto, will be Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016, at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) in Brookhaven at 11 a.m. with burial to follow in the Moak’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Bogue Chitto.

Bro. Jess Greer will officiate the services.

Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016, from 9 a.m. until time of service.

Mr. Walters, 86, died Monday, Oct. 31, 2016, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb. He was born on Dec. 1, 1929, to Alex and Courtney Johnson Walters. He worked for many years as a teacher and basketball coach, and later retired from Delphi Corporation as a quality control engineer. He was a member of Moak’s Creek Baptist Church. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, gardening and spending time with his family. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Alex and Courtney Johnson Walters; his wife of 57 years, Betty Lenard Walters; sister, Allie Walters Nettles.

Survivors are his daughter, Pam Walters Clark and husband Jamie of Bogue Chitto, sister, Frances Walters Moak of McComb; grandchildren, Britton Clark and wife Jennifer and Charla Clark Coley and husband Chase all of Bogue Chitto,  great-grandchildren, Sam and Will Clark, and Harper Coley; and a host of family and friends.

Pallbearers are Vic Dacey, Mike Moak, James Moak, Chris Elkins, Matthew Elkins, and Brad Martin.
