You could say it was a big night for Brookhaven High School defensive tackle Jeffery Johnson, who received offers from Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Florida State Wednesday night.
The six-foot-three, 310-pound junior was a force in the middle on the Panthers defensive line. Johnson had 51 total tackles during the 2016 season, 33 solo tackles, nine sacks and averaged 4.3 tackles per game.
A big and physical player like Johnson is hard to come by as the scholarship offers should continue to roll in for the big man in the middle.
There are big expectations for Johnson his senior year this coming fall as he’ll get plenty more opportunities to prove himself on the football field to college scouts all over the country.
“I’m very proud for and of Jeffery,” Brookhaven High School head coach Tommy Clopton said. “He is a high character kid that works hard every day and is very deserving of the offers.”
