Lincoln County residents have reported a telephone scam that involves Daily Leader newspaper subscribers.

A scammer is calling and telling residents that their newspaper subscription has expired and they need to renew. They are then asked for a credit card number to renew the subscription.

The Daily Leader does not call customers to request credit card information. The newspaper uses mailed notices to inform customers of expired subscriptions. If you receive a phone call about your newspaper subscription, always call the newspaper office at 601-833-6961 to confirm any information before giving out your credit card number.
