Graveside services for Joseph Virgil Boone, of Oma, were Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Sontag. Bro. Ed King officiated the services. Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Visitation was Friday, March 24, 2017, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Boone, 93, died Thursday, March 23, 2017, at Copiah County Medical Center in Hazlehurst with his loving family by his side. He was born April 15, 1923, in Lawrence County to Oscar and Edna Boone.

Mr. Boone was a veteran of World War II and a longstanding member of the IUOE Local 624 of Richland since 1957.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife of 63 years, Lorene Guess Boone; step-mother, Ruby Boone Anding; and brother, Herbert Boone.

Survivors are his daughter, Ann Boone Channell and husband Jimmy of Oma; son, Joe Boone of Sontag; and grandchildren, Carrie Channell Smith and husband Clay, Toni Channell and Jake Reynolds.
