Graveside service for David Wayne Melton, of Brookhaven, will be held today, April 20, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Church of Christ Cemetery.

Mr. Melton, 60, died Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Meadville. He was born Sept. 4, 1956, to Mike Owen Melton and Frances Hanna Melton. He was a graduate of West Lincoln Attendance Center and Copiah-Lincoln Community College. He attended University of Mississippi and later graduated from University of Texas at Arlington. Upon graduation, he lived and worked for several years in Alice Springs, Australia, returning to the state in the early 90s. He then settled in Jackson where he married. He worked for the Jackson Police Department and Mississippi Department of Corrections until 2009. He moved back to the Brookhaven area after he retired. He is a member of Solid Rock Pentecostal Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, James O. Melton, Fred L. Melton and Michael H. Melton.

Survivors are his sister, Linda M. King and husband Johnny and brother, Reggie D. Melton.
