Charles J. Hawn

Funeral services for Charles J. Hawn, of Jayess,  were held Saturday, April 22, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Jayess Baptist Church with burial at the Greer Cemetery in Jayess. Bro. Michael Smith and Bro. Harrell Ables officiated the services. Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Visitation was held Friday, April 21, 2017, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Hawn, 77, died Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Wesley Medical Center in Hattiesburg with his loving family by his side. He was born Sept. 17, 1939, in Lawrence County to Charlie and Emma Alexander Hawn. He retired from Georgia Pacific after 35 years.  He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church  and enjoyed his Sunday Class.

He was preceded in death by his parents;  son, Chris Hawn; two daughters, Andrea and Alicia Hawn; twin grandchildren, Carmen and Cassandra; three brothers, Jonah, Wesley and John Henry Hawn; and three sisters, Betty Hawn, Bertie Walker and Eudena Clark.   

Survivors are his wife of 51 years Rebecca Hawn, of Jayess; son, Tim Hawn and wife Hope, of Monticello; one sister, Gertie Alexander and husband Howard, of Jayess; four grandchildren, Hannah Bree, Laken, Lucas and Jesse; and one great-grandchild, Brylee Rae.
