Whether you’re wondering about that famous cousin, or looking for answers of where your ancestors originated from, your search can begin this week.

Susie Patrick, chairman of the genealogy committee, explained the event as being an introductory meeting to cover the basics of genealogy.

“People don’t realize that we have a lot of information on different families here in Brookhaven,” she said. “No matter where you are in the hunt for your ancestors, this is a gathering for anyone interested in genealogy.”

Patrick hopes the program may turn into an interactive project. “At the end of the meeting, I would like to ask everyone what their goals are, and perhaps pair up people that are just beginning to help each other,” she said.

The event is free and open to the public. The Jimmy Furlow Senior Citizen Center is at the corner of First and Cherokee streets. Email mslincolncountygenealogy@gmail.com for more information.
