SAUCIER (AP) — Authorities say they’ve arrested a man after he confessed to severely beating his roommate.

The Sun Herald reports 29-year-old Matthew Scott Hale was charged Sunday with felony aggravated assault. The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office says in a news release that deputies responded Sunday to a possible assault. Hale later told police he attacked his roommate after the two fought.

The victim, who wasn’t identified, is in serious but stable condition. It’s unclear if Hale has an attorney.
