Funeral services for Amaryllis Nations, of Brookhaven, are Friday, May 12, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Riverwood Family Funeral Service in Brookhaven with burial at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be today, May 11, 2017, from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Nations, 83, died Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was born May 9, 1934, to Fred and May Herring. She worked as a beautician for more than 40 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was very precious to her. Her favorite pastime was watching sports on television. She was a member of the Woodman of the World and also of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, V.C. Nations Jr.; parents; brother, Fred Herring Jr.; brother-in-law, Paul Redd; nephew, Jason Redd and niece, Judy Herring Johnson.

Survivors are her sons, Freddie C. Nations (Eve), Timmy W. Nations (Judy), both of Brookhaven; sisters, Ann Rushing, of Brookhaven, and Sue Redd, of Baker, Louisiana; grandchildren, Joshua Nations, of Harvey, Louisiana, Jonathan Nations (Sarah), of Ladston, South Carolina, Keith Mulvihill, of Natchez, and James Gumm, of Harvey, Louisiana; great-grandchildren, Jonah and Julianne Nations; numerous other nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces, family and friends; and two special new friends, Vicky Martin and Emiya Smith.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000 Dept 142 Memphis, TN 38148-0142
