A new look — and a “new” business — is coming soon to Lincoln Plaza Shopping Center.

Owner Keith Dorman has plans to renovate the exterior of the building and relocate Perkins Ace Hardware to a remodeled spot.

Located on Hwy. 51, the shopping center is home to several businesses including Poppa’s Fish House and Sears. The center is currently undergoing renovations to improve its appearance to attract more customers.

“We started working on the renovations six weeks ago,” Dorman said. “We anticipate being through with construction by the end of September. The entire shopping center will be renovated. The entire front will be new.”

Contractors are working behind Sears, constructing a warehouse for the hardware store to use for storage.

This will accommodate the new location of Perkins Hardware, which is currently on Brookway Boulevard. The hardware store will take the place of the old Hudson’s and Kux locations, he said.

The move will allow Dorman to add 4,000 square feet to the interior, making room for a lot more inventory.

“We will be increasing our lines and merchandise,” he said. “We’re in the middle of doing that now.”

Dorman said they plan to increase their lines in home and garden and add more farm supplies.

“Our footprint as far as our retail is concerned will be somewhere around 18,000 square feet in the new store,” he said.

Dorman is planning for an October opening.
