Co-Lin golf finishes 11th in NJCAA DII championship

MESA, Ariz. — The Copiah-Lincoln Community College Wolves wrapped up a successful 2017 campaign with an 11th place finish in the NJCAA DII National Championship in Mesa, Ariz.

The Wolves fired impressive scores throughout the week, but the competition was stiff at Long Bow Golf Course. Co-Lin shot a 301, 318, 298, and 303 for a team total of 1220 through four rounds.

Joseph Dendy led Co-Lin with a 298. Dendy shot a 72, 81, 70, and a 75 through all four rounds and finished tied at 24th individually.

Brandon Blakney posted a 305 after carding a 77, 75, 77, and a 76. Blakney finished tied for 45th individually.

Cole Arseneault shot a 310 through four rounds. The sophomore posted a 76, 82, 77, and a 75. Arseneault finished tied at 56th overall.

Co-Lin’s Zachary Smith posted a 313 for the Wolves after shooting a 77, 85, 74, and a 77. Smith finished tied for 68th overall.

Matthew Scoville rounded out Co-Lin’s players with a 315. The freshman shot a 76, 80, 80, and a 79 and tied for 71st overall.

2017 proved one of Co-Lin’s most successful years on the course as the team consistently claimed top three finishes throughout the season. The Wolves also won the NJCAA District D Championship at Grand Bear Golf Course in Saucier.
