Man shot in leg in Brookhaven recovering in Jackson

Brookhaven Police officers took one man into custody Sunday following a minor shooting that left a man hospitalized in Jackson.

A 46-year-old man was shot in the leg during an argument at the corner of Washington Avenue and Booker Street shortly after 2 p.m., said detective Cpl. Jonathan Alford.

The victim was taken to King’s Daughters Medical Center then transported to a hospital in Jackson. His injuries appear not to be life threatening, he said.

Alford said the shooting appears to have occurred on the edge of the street during an altercation between the two men.
