A portion of Hwy. 51 in Pike County will be closed Tuesday, June 27, for roadwork. A pipe culvert under the highway needs to be replaced, according to the Mississippi Department of Transportation.

The section of highway is located in front of Eva Gordon Elementary School in Magnolia.

“Detour signs and message boards will be in place directing traffic to find an alternate route,” said Transportation Commissioner Tom King. “Motorists are reminded to be on high alert for roadside workers during this closure on June 27.”

Work is expected to begin at 7 a.m. and be completed by the end of the day.
