Shannon Aker elected to Mississippi Bankers Association Board

Shannon Aker of Brookhaven has been elected to a three-year term on the Mississippi Bankers Association Board of Directors.

Aker will represent his region of the state on the board, which governs the 128-year-old association. MBA’s membership includes commercial banks and savings institutions operating in the state, and members hold over 95 percent of bank deposits within the state.

Aker is president of Bank of Brookhaven. He has 31 years banking experience, 14 with State Bank and Trust Company and 17 with Bank of Brookhaven. He is a graduate of the University of Mississippi and the Mississippi School of Banking.

Aker has served as councilman for the Mississippi Young Bankers, chair of the MBA Communications Council and member of the MBA board of trustees for the group medical insurance program.

He is also active in the Brookhaven community. Aker is chair of the Brookhaven-Lincoln County Industrial Development Foundation, vice chair of the Brookhaven-Lincoln County FCA Board, member of the board for the Brookhaven-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce and member of the Brookhaven Tourism Council.

He is also a deacon and active member of First Baptist Church in Brookhaven.

Aker and his wife of 30 years, Robyn, have two daughters, Allison McCaffrey and husband Josh, and Leslie Anne Aker. They also have two grandsons.
