Hwy. 587 to close temporarily in Lawrence County next week
The Mississippi Department of Transportation plans to close Hwy. 587 in Lawrence County Monday at 7 a.m. through the end of the day Wednesday. MDOT crews will begin replacing a pipe beneath the highway.
The highway will be closed approximately seven miles south of Monticello between Divide Road and Oak Grove Road.
“While local traffic will be allowed, through traffic is advised to seek an alternate route during the closure,” said Transportation Commissioner Tom King. “Motorists are reminded to drive slow and be alert for roadside workers along Hwy. 587.”
