Funeral services for Larry Eugene Thomas, of Brookhaven, are Saturday, July 15, 2017, at 3 p.m. at Grace Community Church in Brookhaven with burial at Hillcrest Cemetery. Williams Mortuary in Brookhaven is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be Friday, July 14, 2017, from 1 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Family hour will be Friday, July 14, 2017, from 6 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Thomas, 68, died Monday, July 10, 2017 at his residence. He was born Nov. 7, 1948, in Alton, Illinois, to Albert Thomas and Earline Smith Thomas. He attended Kennedy College in Chicago, Illinois, and graduated from Hyde Clark High School in Chicago, Illinois. He retired but worked his lifetime as a welder, EMT and cosmetologist. He also worked at Walmart Super Center in Brookhaven, and San Marcos, Texas, in the automotive department.

He was a Veteran of the United States Army and served two tours of duty in Vietnam.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and grandparents.

Survivors are his loving wife of 22 years, Daisy Brooks Thomas, of Brookhaven; three sons, Larry D. Thomas, of Chicago, Illinois, Solomon D. Brooks, of Brookhaven, and Douglas Thomas, of California; four daughters, Latonya Thomas, of Chicago, Illinois, Asia Thomas (Travis) Nelson, of Winner, South Dakota, Veronica Brooks (Otis) Collins, of Brookhaven, and Monica Brooks (Johnny) Bucks, of Mesa, Arizona; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Annie Jean Thomas, of Chicago, Illinois; two aunts, Annie Ruth Thomas Gilmore, of Chicago, Illinois, and Inez Thomas, of Tacoma, Washington; two brothers-in-law, Marzell (Undrea) Brooks, of Brookhaven, and Darien (Joyce) Brooks, of Hazlehurst; three sisters-in-law, Jessie Brooks (Ray) Womack, of Brookhaven, Tonya Brooks, of Brookhaven, and Mary Brooks, of Great Falls, Montana; one niece; three great-nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends.
