Funeral services for Clifford Calvin Britt, of Wesson, are Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Sylvarena Baptist Church in Wesson with burial at the church cemetery. Bro. Stuart Givens will officiate at the services. Brookhaven Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be today, Dec. 27, 2017, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the church and will continue Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Mr. Britt, 69, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2017, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Brookhaven. He was born Sept. 26, 1948, in Brookhaven, to Calvin Britt and Dorothy Britt. He served his country in the Army National Guard. He was a member of Sylvarena Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and on various committees. He played the organ and piano at church, formly served as a deacon at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, retired from Bell South/AT&T after 30 years of service, served six years as a justice court judge in Copiah County, served as the Hazlehurst city judge; served six years as a State representative, served as the manager of the Brookhaven Municipal Airport, was a member of the J M Wesson Masonic Lodge #317, Wesson Chamber of Commerce, Wesson Friends of the Library, and the American Legion Prine Post 79, and enjoyed flying airplanes, computers, music, star gazing, fishing, camping, canoeing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin Henry and Dorothy Minton Britt; sister, Diane Britt Miller; and infant brother.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Marilyn Hutson Britt; sons, Van Britt and wife Kathy and Hillry Britt and wife Misty, both of Wesson; grandchildren, Alexis Britt, Micah Britt, Kaitlyn Smith, Chase Britt and Caylie Britt; uncle, Charles Minton and wife Jacqueline; aunt, Gloria Minton Ferlita; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Chris Brister, Pat Brister, Ronnie Walker, Randy Hutson, Danny Lowery, and Dale Lowery. Honorary pallbearers are Perry May, Jim Portrey, John Baswell MS, Rep. Gregory Holloway Sr., and James Smith.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of King’s Daughters Medical Center, the staff of Deaconess Home Health and the staff of Brookhaven Internal Medicine.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Mr. Britt’s name to Sylvarena Baptist Church or to Sylvarena Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
