Funeral services for Curtis Lance Smith, of Brookhaven, will be held on Monday, Jan. 1, 2018, at 2 p.m. at The Church of Latter Day Saints, Red Star Ward, with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017, from 5 until 9 p.m. at Riverwood Family Service and continue at 1 p.m. until time of services at the church.

Mr. Smith, 55, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, at King’s Daughters Medical Center. He was born in Brookhaven Dec. 18, 1962, to Curtis James Smith and Relda Joyce Smith.

He was a member of the 1980 State Championship Loyd Star baseball team and loved to travel and spend time with his family. He also served formally as a funeral director, a former supervisor at Leidos and was a member of The Church of Latter Day Saints, Brookhaven Branch.

Preceding him in death was his mother.

Survivors are his wife of 29 years, Amye Kristen “Kristy” Smith; father, Curtis James Smith; two daughters, Kacy Nelson and husband Josh and Kaylin Smith; one sister, Lisa Bodin and husband Van; one grandchild, Asher Nelson and many nieces, nephews and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Mr. Smith to Harrah’s Hope Lodge, 718 Union Ave, Memphis, TN 38103.
