Funeral services for Bonnie Sue Pierce Thornhill of Anniston, Alabama, formerly of Brookhaven, will be Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service at 11 a.m. with interment at Riverwood Memorial Park.

Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at 11 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Thornhill, 84, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017.

She was born Feb. 21, 1933 to the late Edgar Lewis Pierce and Dezzie Lee Calhoun Pierce. She was an active lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Brookhaven; enjoyed creative pursuits of various kinds including painting, gardening and decorating; an was an avid traveler and reader. She enjoyed snow skiing and had the gift of hospitality. Most of all, she enjoyed time with friends and family; she adored her husband Max, her daughters and grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and her life was a radiant expression of her love for the Lord Jesus Christ.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and husband, Max E. Thornhill.

She is survived by her three daughters, Debbie T. Acker and husband, Aaron, Dana T. Simmons and husband, Robert, and Diane T. Irby; 11 grandchildren, Michael Simmons, Andrew Acker and wife, Heather, Maurie Hartel and husband, Forrest, Joseph Irby and wife, Taylor, Anna Lee Hooper and husband, Bob, Lori DeYmaz and husband, Zach, John Irby, Joshua Irby, Josiah Irby, Abigail Workman and husband, Jeffrey, and Joel Irby; 12 great-grandchildren, Ella Hartel, Vivi Hartel, Max Acker, Kate Acker, Ellis Hooper, John Franklin Hooper, Bonnie Lee Hooper, Inslee Irby, Anderson Irby, Grace Davidson, Catherine DeYmaz and Piece DeYmaz; and  brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jerry and Shirley Thornhill.
