Funeral services for Eula “Merle” Buie, of Brookhaven, are Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, at 4 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) with Rev. Jerry Sullivan officiating.

Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, from 2 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Merle, 86, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2018, at Diversicare of Brookhaven. She was born in Lincoln County to Melton Brister and Tera Smith Brister. She married Prentiss Eugene Buie of Caseyville on Jan. 2, 1952, in Lincoln County.

She loved sitting under her live oak tree enjoying the outdoors, cooking and spending time with her family. Her grandchildren were her heart.

Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband; and brothers, John Henry Brister, Rev. Sammy Brister and Bill Brister.

Survivors are her daughter Daphne Smith and husband Brad; three grandchildren, Alayna, Anna Grace and Parker Smith; one great-grandchild, Tucker Hood; brothers Paul Brister and wife Charlotte, and Barry Brister and wife Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
