Memorial services for Halbert Bailey Moncrief, of Canton, are Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Clinton, with burial at Lakewood Memorial Park for immediate family only. Sebrell Funeral Home in Ridgeland is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Mr. Moncrief, 80, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, from cancer while under hospice care. He was born Aug. 1, 1937, in Shreveport, Louisiana, and grew up in Brookhaven, where he graduated high school in 1955. He received a BA degree from Millsaps College in 1959 in secondary education and worked in the area of education for around 20 years, at which time he became a manager at Time Warner Cable (now Comcast) for another 20 years before retiring.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Halbert and Dovie Moncrief.

Survivors are the love of his life, Charlotte; daughter, Alison Stacks (Terry); son, Hal Moncrief (Suzie); grandchildren, Matthew Boyte (Katie), Landon Boyte, Alyssa and Wesley Moncrief, and Rachel Stacks; great-grandchildren, Jonas, Norah and Alice Boyte; and siblings, Ann Morris (Bob), Loy Moncrief, and Melody Boyd (Claude).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to First United Methodist Church, 100 Mt. Salus Dr., Clinton, MS 39056.
