A Hazlehurst man died Sunday following a one-vehicle crash in Ruth.

Dustin Reece Whittington, 24, was driving on Hwy. 583 south of Ruth Drive when his 2016 Dodge Ram left the road, said Cpl. Brandon Fortenberry with the Mississippi Highway Patrol. The driver’s side of the truck collided with a tree and Whittington was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Lincoln County Coroner Clay McMorris.

The crash occurred about 4:13 p.m.

It remains under investigation by MHP.
