Pauline ‘Polly’ Boyte Smith

Funeral services for Pauline “Polly” Boyte Smith, of Brookhaven, are Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church with burial at the church cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Service in Brookhaven is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is today, Jan. 20, 2018, from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home. She will lie in state Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018, from 1 p.m. until time of service at the church.     

Mrs. Smith, 81, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018. She was born Aug. 22, 1936, to Oscar Boyte and Mary Eula Jackson Boyte. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and owned Polly’s Beauty Shop for 50 years. She loved to travel with her husband in their RV, crocheting and spending time with her family and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Lee Roy Smith; and daughter, Alisa Gail Forrest.

Survivors are her sons, Larone Smith (Debbi) and Kerry G. Smith (Sherree); son-in-law, Tony Forrest; brother, Wayne Boyte and wife Carole; sister, Shirley Boyte Martin (Charles); 10 grandchildren, Jenny Edwards (Paul), Angela McKay (Leif), Landon Smith (Jessica), Travis Smith (Bailey), Derek Smith (Tiffany), Brittany Fortenberry (Brandon), Katie Slaton (Brandon), Krishanna Harvey, Karah Williams (Zachary) Geoffrey Forrest; 17 great- grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews; and her special friends, Audrey Watts and Vernestine Byrd and a special thanks to the staff of Silver Cross Health and Rehab and Hospice Ministries.
