This Krewe is bearing the trains

On Feb. 24, the Krewe of Ceres will hold its annual charity ball. The trainbearers will assist the maids during the pageant and ball.

John Sones

John Thomas Sones is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Bill Sones.  He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Sones Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Terry Reid.  Sones is a fifth grader at Lipsey Middle School.

He is an all A Honor Roll student and a Mississippi Rising Scholar. Sones is also in the Quest gifted program at school.

He served as a water boy for the 2017 Brookhaven High School football team. He enjoys playing sports and hunting.  He is a member of First Baptist Church. His father, Bill Sones, served as an escort on the court and his mother, Carrie Sones, served as a maid on the court.  His grandfather, Terry Reid, served as Charity Ball King in 2012.

Luke Simmons

Luke Walton Simmons is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Worth Simmons. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Johnson and Mr. Gene Simmons and Mrs. Carol Simmons. Simmons is a fifth grader at Lipsey Middle School.

He is an all A Honor Roll student and a Mississippi Rising Scholar. He is involved in the Quest gifted program at school.

He served as a water boy for the 2017 Brookhaven High School football team. He played on the Lipsey fifth and sixth grade football team. He is also involved with Dixie Youth baseball where he has been selected as an All Star. He enjoys basketball, hunting, and fishing. Simmons attends Faith Presbyterian Church. His brother Ben served as a trainbearer on the 2016 court.

Trenton Owens

Trenton Charles Owens is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Owens. He is the grandson of Mrs. Millie Owens, the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Owens, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hathorn and Mr. and Mrs. Steve Barnes. Owens is a fifth grader at Lipsey Middle School.

He is an all A Honor Roll student and a Mississippi Rising Scholar. He is also in the Quest program.

He enjoys hunting, football, baseball, tennis, and drawing. Trent is a member of Heucks Retreat Baptist Church where he is involved in choir and Bible drills. Trent’s father, Chuck, served as an escort in the 1993 court. His great uncle Tillmon Bishop served as King for the Charity Ball in 2014.

Parker Miller

James Parker Miller is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Eric Miller. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. James Miller and Mr. Michael Mayo and the late Mrs. Kathy Mayo. Miller is a fifth grader at Brookhaven Academy.

He is an all A Honor Roll student and Mississippi Rising Scholar. He is involved in basketball, soccer, and archery. He is an avid Ole Miss and college football fan and enjoys traveling to Oxford for sporting events and football camp. Miller attends Easthaven Baptist Church.

Anabel Gray

Anabel Langston Gray is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Gray. She is the granddaughter Mrs. Cherie Pope Langston and the late Dr. LeDon Langston and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Alfred Gray. Gray is a fifth grader at Lipsey Middle School. She is an all A Honor roll student and a Mississippi Rising Scholar. Gray is also in the Quest gifted program at program. She serves as student council secretary. Gray is involved in Brookhaven Little Theatre, tennis, and guitar. She is a member of First United Methodist Church and serves as an acolyte. Her sisters, Rivers, Gracie, and Lily have all served as trainbearers on the court.

Ella Smith

Ellanor Paxton Smith is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Chad Smith.  She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stan King, and Dr. and Mrs. Mark Smith.  Smith is a fifth grader at Brookhaven Academy.  She is an all A Honor Roll student and Mississippi Rising Scholar.   She enjoys cheer, acro dance and playing basketball. She also enjoys being with friends and playing with her sister, Lily.   She is a member of Faith Presbyterian Church.  Her father, Chad Smith, served as an escort on the court and her mother, Anna Smith, served as a maid on the court. 

Violet Belk

Violet Olivia Belk is the daughter of Dr. And Mrs. Nic Belk. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Boerner and Mr. and Mrs. Morris Belk. Belk is a fifth grader at Lipsey Middle School. She is an all A Honor Roll student and a Mississippi Rising Scholar.  She has the highest average in Language Arts in fifth grade. Belk is also in the Quest gifted program at school.  She enjoys ballet, tap, jazz and Acro dance with the Brookhaven Dance Academy She is a member of Faith Presbyterian Church. Her mother, Betsy Boerner Belk was Charity Ball Queen in 2002 and her grandfather, Bill Boerner was Charity Ball king in 2013.

Evelyn Waterloo

Evelyn Mae Waterloo is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Trey Waterloo.  She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Waterloo and Mr. and Mrs. John Burton. Waterloo is a fifth grader at Brookhaven Academy. She is an Honor Roll student. She serves in the performing arts at Brookhaven Little Theatre. She is involved as a Cougarette, dance, and theatre at Brookhaven Academy. She enjoys playing the piano, singing, and filming. She is a member of First Baptist Church. Her mother, Emily Burton Waterloo served as a maid on the court.
