He was a huge supporter of the law enforcement community and an avid collector of law enforcement, first responder and military patches with his collection exceeding 7,000 items. He made many friends around the country through his hobby and even a few from other countries.

His physical limitations kept him homebound but he kept up with the outside world through his phone and Facebook. He had maxed out on the number of friends Facebook would allow but there were many more. He loved music and was an expert at naming songs and artists. He played SongPop and was rarely defeated. Jacob loved football, especially the Ole Miss Rebels and New Orleans Saints. He has numerous autographed items and memorabilia from college teams and the NFL that were to sent to him. He loved people and loved having visitors he could talk and laugh with. He loved tuning in to — and beating his mom at — Jeopardy every day at 3:30 p.m.

Preceding him in death were maternal grandfather, “Gramps” Jerry Bailey; and paternal grandmother, “Ba” Jewel Hinshaw.

Survivors are his parents; sister, Bailey Hinshaw; maternal grandmother, “Grandma” Jeannette Bailey; paternal grandfather, “Grandpa” Maurice Hinshaw; devoted friend/brother, Chad Harveston; future brother-in-law, Matt Smith; special cousin/best friend, Meagan Brickell; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him very much.
