The Lincoln County School District recently made the list of “Safest School Districts” in the state, a list compiled by website Niche.com.

The website ranked Lincoln County No. 8. It was the only district in the area ranked in the top 10. Itawamba was ranked No. 1 and Lamar County was ranked No. 10.

The website ranks several factors to arrive at its list. It factors in things like: percentage of students missing 15 days or more, percentage of students receiving in-school suspension, percentage expelled and percentage arrested.

The website also ranks neighborhoods and links to homes for sale in those neighborhoods. Its list is not an official ranking from the state Department of Education.
