Funeral services for Bonnie Monroe Maher Jr., of Lorman, are Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Bethesda Baptist Church with burial at Union Church Cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Service in Brookhaven is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is today, Feb. 23, 2018, from 5 until 9 p.m. at the church. He will lie in state Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Mr. Maher, 86, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018, at his residence. He was born Dec. 30, 1931, to Bonnie Monroe Maher Sr. and Alma Smith Maher. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church and a member of the Masons and enjoyed family and farming.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mildred Maher and Audrey Brown; and brother, Pete Maher.

Survivors are his wife of 60 years, Hazel Maxine Beesley Maher; sons, Tony Maher and wife Charlotte and Jeff Maher and wife Rene; daughters, Rebekah “Becky” Maher Johnson and husband James and Dana Maher Fleming and husband Henry; sisters Louise Southerland Steen and Nell Ashley; eight grandchildren, Sarah Creadeur, Emily Magee, Benji Maher, Chris Fleming, Phillip Maher, Paige Bromen, Tiffany Maher, and Chelsea Maher; and 10 great-grandchildren.
