Funeral services for Larry Nolan O’Quin, of River Ridge, Louisiana, are Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit with burial at Calvary cemetery in Pricedale. Rev. Jarred Miller will officiate the service.
Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, from noon until time of service at the church.
Mr. O’Quinn, 82, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018, at the Carpenter House in River Ridge. He was born Sept. 2, 1935, in Verna, to Ulys and Tera Alexander O’Quin. He worked for the Illinois Central Railroad as a mechanical supervisor from 1955 until his retirement in 1997. He was a member of Riverside Church and was very active in his Sunday school class and other church activities.
He was a true outdoorsman and loved to fish, especially trot line fishing. He enjoyed carpentry work and built his first family home. He loved watching Fox News and spent a lot of his free time frying fish and cooking other items. He loved his family and spent many hours with his grandchildren, of whom he was so proud.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Marion O’Quin; and his sister, Dorothy Dean O’Quin.
He is survived by his wife, Willeen Alexander O’Quin, of River Ridge, Louisiana; children and their spouses, Tony and Dee Dee O’Quin, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Becky O’Quin Jackson and Paul, of Brookhaven and Mitch O’Quin and Shontell Young, of River Ridge, Louisiana; grandchildren, Amanda McGraw and husband, Austin, Mike O’Quin and wife, Lauren and Claire O’Quin, all of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, John Paul Jackson, of Brookhaven, Collyn O’Quin, Bailey O’Quin, Megan O’Quin, Cole Young and Cade Young, all of River Ridge, Louisiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Mike O’Quin, John Paul Jackson, Collyn O’Quin, Thomas Boyd, Lane O’Quin, Donnie Boyd and David Alexander Sr.
