Funeral services for Joseph James “J.J.” Michiels Jr., of Bougue Chitto, are Friday, March 2, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Riverwood Family Funeral Service in Brookhaven with burial at Moak’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Michiels, 71, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was born March 29, 1946, in Alexandria, Louisiana, to Joseph James Michiels Sr. and Mary Clementine Brydels Michiels. He was an outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting, farming, gardening and boiling crawfish. He will be missed by all those who loved him.

He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Michiels Sr.; and one sister, Dena Flynn.

Survivors are his wife, Dot Michiels; mother, Mary Brydels Michiels; sons, Jason Michiels, Jimmy Michiels, and Damon Michiels; brother, Bruce Michiels; sisters, Beth McNaughton and Linda Michiels Fowler; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
