Violet Mattie Singletary Palmer

A memorial service for Violet Mattie Singletary Palmer, of Liberty, was held Saturday, March 31, 2018, at 10 a.m. at Liberty Presbyterian Church. Rev. Walt Gaston officiated the service. Brown Funeral Home in Gloster was in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Palmer, 88, died Thursday, March 29, 2018. She was born Feb. 15, 1930, in Marianna, Florida, to Clarence and Ursula Singletary. She was a bookkeeper all of her life. She lived for many years in Florida to be near family there, and moved to Brookhaven in 2010 to be near her children and grandchildren. While in Brookhaven she lived in the Inez and made many special friends there. She was a member of the Faith Presbyterian Church in Brookhaven. She moved to the Liberty Community Living Center in May of 2017 and made many special friends there also.
She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Julie Lane; brother, Chuck Singletary; and her sister, Clare Booth.
Survivors are her her daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Jerry Miller, of Liberty; son-in-law, Artie Lane of Houston, of Texas; grandsons, Max Miller and wife, Danielle, of Liberty, and Jeffery Miller, of Hattiesburg, and his girlfriend, Shelby Abdul-Hadi, of Bay St. Louis; great-granddaughter, Swayze Lane Miller; sister-in-law, Jackie Singletary, of Tallahassee, Florida; special friend and roommate Mrs. Nathalie Johnston; and special nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association.
