Funeral services for Louise Wallace Allgood, of Brookhaven, are today, April 3, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at New Prospect Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Service in Brookhaven is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation was held Monday, April 2, 2018, from 5 until 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mrs. Allgood, 94, died Friday, March 30, 2018. She was born March 27, 1924, to the late M.C. Wallace and Bertha McCaffrey Wallace. She was the vision of a Proverbs 31 woman. She was a “noble wife,” “worked with her hands,” making quilts, needlework and canning fruits and vegetables and her children certainly “rise up and call her blessed.” As a young lady, she was employed as secretary/bookkeeper with Gibson’s Discount Center. She was a faithful member of New Prospect Baptist Church. If you knew her, you loved her. She will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John H. “Bonnie” Allgood; parents; two sons-in-law, Richard Thurman and Kenneth Stewart; and nine brothers and sisters and their spouses.

Survivors are her daughters, Myra Thurman, Jean Stewart and Janet Smith and husband, Mark; seven grandchildren, Chris Thurman (Kim), Kelly Thurman (Wendy), Ryan Thurman (Amanda), Michelle Dillon (Stacy), Todd Stewart (Alisa), Holly Bond (Jeremy), Tiffany Carver (Ryan); 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews and other loving family members and friends.
